Apply for your Visa

In order to avoid delays in getting your visa, it is very important to apply for your as soon as you have received your Confirmation of Acceptance for Study (CAS) letter. Any delays in receiving your visa, will impact your ability to register onto your course on time.

Our team can support you through this process. You can contact us by using the OIEG contact us form.

We will request updates on your visa application status via CAS Shield, the online self-service system that you used when you submitted your CAS documents. Please ensure that you click the button that best represents your situation so we can promptly assist you. Once you’ve received your visa, please upload the vignette on CAS Shield.

Important Note: eVisa’s

The government is replacing physical immigration documents, such as biometric residence permits (BRPs) with digital proof of immigration status called an eVisa for new applicants.

An eVisa is a digital record of a person’s immigration status. You can find the latest information is available at 

Setting up your eVisa account:

You can set up your eVisa as soon as your visa is granted. You should create your UKVI online account before arriving in the UK. This ensures you can manage your digital immigration status without delays.

Steps to Take:

1. Access Your eVisa: Create a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account to access your eVisa ()

Ensure your personal details and the passport you will use for travel are correctly linked to your UKVI account. ()

2. Verify Your eVisa Details: Use the ‘View and Prove Your Immigration Status’ service to confirm that your immigration status is displayed correctly and that you have permission to travel to the UK.

Book your accommodation

Accommodation must be arranged before your arrival to the UK. All students under the age of 18, must provide proof o accommodation before arrival.

Edinburgh Napier University (ENU) offers several halls of residence options according to your preference.

If you prefer to live in halls of residence, please apply as early as possible as places fill up fast!

You’ll be able to book your accommodation if you hold an Unconditional Offer letter and have paid your tuition fee deposit or if you have been issued a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) letter.

  1. You will need your Edinburgh Napier Number, which is displayed on your Unconditional Offer letter under the Uni ID section
  2. You will need to submit your online application as soon as possible via the following booking portal:
  3. When booking accommodation via the , ENUIC students need to select EN International College option, NOT the UG or PG option.
  4. Once you’ve submitted your application successfully you will get a confirmation email sent to you. It will take the University 4 working days to respond with an offer of accommodation or further information.
  5. You will need to make your £500 advance rent payment within 72 hours of receiving your offer of accommodation.
  6. Please note, ENU do not accept Maestro payments. If your visa gets refused, you will need to produce evidence within good time (please enquire for your intake), and the £500 will be refunded to you.
  7. You will need complete and upload a guarantor form, payment schedule and online induction within 3 days of receiving your accommodation reservation email.

Private accommodation

If you want to live off-campus, please take into consideration that due to the ongoing housing and cost of living crisis, private accommodation is more difficult to find and may be more expensive than usual.

Searching for private accommodation can be quite time consuming so be prepared to do a lot of browsing online.

We recommend using CASITA, as they are a one stop shop for student accommodation and offer multilingual 24/7 support to help you find the best accommodation within your budget. You can start you search by clicking

Letting Agents

Not all flats will be rented by the homeowner. In some cases the homeowner will employ a letting agent to manage their properties. The letting agent will manage the rental process, including legal formalities from signing a lease to dealing with repairs and maintenance. The main letting agents advertise on the following sites:





Flatshare Websites

There are many online sites such as where people advertise for flatmates to live with them. You’ll need to register with these sites but you can look for a room to rent, as well as post a profile of yourself – be honest! They are quick and easy to search and generally no calls need to be made initially since most of the communication is done via email which makes the process a bit less daunting if English is not your first language.

It is advisable to move into your accommodation a day or two before your course start date so that you are fully rested and ready to attend our informative and engaging induction events.

To maximize your success on your chosen course and to have the best student experience, we recommend that your term time accommodation is within 40 miles distance from the College. This will make it easier for you to attend your classes and to get involved in of your interest.

Booking your flight

Immediately after you’ve received your visa, book your flight. When booking your flight, please make sure you arrive a few days before your first day of the term, so you have enough time to check-in to your accommodation and join your classes on time. Edinburgh is well connected with direct flights from China, Turkey and the Middle East. If connecting via another airport e.g. Amsterdam, please make sure you have the correct visa documents for your transit destination.

We will request updates on your flight details via CAS Shield, the online self-service system that you used when you submitted your CAS documents. Once you’ve booked your flight, please upload your flight ticket on CAS Shield so we can prepare for your arrival.

How to Register

Stage 1 – Online registration

Online registration is a compulsory requirement, and all students need to complete it before arrival. The details that you will provide as part of the online registration task will allow us to prepare for your arrival such as creating your Student ID card, setting up your university email address and enable your IT facilities.

Once you’ve received your CAS, ENU will send you three registration emails to your personal email account giving you access to information technology (IT) services and online registration. Please note that this won’t be earlier than two weeks before your course start date.

If you have not received the registration emails to your personal account, please contact registration@napier.ac.uk and provide us with your correct personal email address. Please check your junk/spam email folders first if you haven’t received these emails.

Important! Before you are able to start your online registration you must create a secure password which you will need in order to enter the registration portal.

You will receive password creating instructions to your personal email address. Please look out for an email with the subject header of Getting Registered with Edinburgh Napier University and follow all instructions.

Once you’ve created your password, you’ll receive the final email to your personal email account which will give you access to complete the final steps of your online registration.

• Complete your online registration (you will also need to upload a copy of your visa)

• Upload your photo via Photo Manager (this will be printed on your Student Card)

• Enrol for the Password Manager Service

• Complete the Introduction to Computing and Library Services

Please remember that creating your password is NOT online registration.

Once you’ve created your password you will be able to enter the registration portal and complete your online registration.

You must complete the online process and any other checks that are required for you to become a fully registered student at Edinburgh Napier University International College.

Stage 2 – University Immigration Check

Student Visa holders once in the UK, will need to provide the University’s Visa and International Support team with the following to complete the registration process:

  • A copy of your visa decision letter
  • Evidence of entry to the UK (e.g entry clearance stamp in your passport or boarding pass if you enter through the UK E-Gate Passport Control)
  • eVisa/Share code

Tuition Fee Payment

We strongly advise that you pay your remaining fee from your home country as soon as you receive your visa and before you travel to the UK. Settling all due payments prior to arrival will allow you to focus on your studies and to enjoy your student life. Without paying your tuition fees, you may not receive your timetable and may have restrictions applied to your university facilities.

Late Arrivals

We want you to have the best possible student experience and we will provide you with an informative induction and orientation events to help you settle into your studies and make friends. We strongly advise that you don’t miss any of these events and that you attend lectures from day one in order to have the best possible academic outcome. To enjoy the full student experience, you need to arrive at the College no later than the course start date as stated in your offer letter and Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

If you anticipate arriving in the UK after your course start date, it is crucial to inform us as soon as possible. Please email the Pre-Arrival team at arrivalsupport@oxfordinternational.com

Travelling to ENUIC

When you arrive in the UK, you’ll need to make your way to Edinburgh to check into your accommodation and complete your face-to-face enrolment.

On this page you’ll find detailed instructions on how to get to the college, from the most popular airports close to the university.

It is important to note that while your CAS may list “Sighthill Campus” as the address, this is simply the issuing location. You will not be studying there. Once you arrive in the UK, you should go directly to the college, which is based at Merchiston Campus.

From all airports your options include:

Trains: Fast and frequent.

Buses: More economical but longer travel time with potential waiting periods.

Taxi/Car: Direct and convenient but more expensive.

1. Airport to City Centre

– Airlink 100: This is an express bus service that runs from Edinburgh Airport to the city Centre. You can catch it at the airport bus stop. The journey takes about 30 minutes.

– Get off at the Princes Street stop.

2. City Centre to Napier University

– From Princes Street, you can take Lothian Bus 10 (towards Torphin or Bonaly). The bus stop is located near the east end of Princes Street.

– Get off at the Napier University stop on Colinton Road. The journey takes about 15-20 minutes.

– The campus is a short walk from the bus stop.

The 16 or 15 can also be used at the Scott Monument stop on Princes street, getting off at Holy Corner followed by a short walk.

1. Airport to City Centre

– Take the Edinburgh Trams service from the airport to the city Centre. Get off at the Princes Street tram stop. The tram journey takes about 30 minutes.

2. City Centre to Napier University

– From Princes Street, take Lothian Bus 10 as mentioned above, or alternatively, you can take Lothian Bus 11 (towards Hyvots Bank) or Bus 16 (towards Colinton). Both buses stop near the university.

– Get off at the stop closest to 10 Colinton Rd. The journey takes around 15-20 minutes.

Taxis are readily available at Edinburgh Airport. A direct taxi ride to Edinburgh Napier University (Merchiston Campus) takes about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic and costs around £20-£30.

From Glasgow

1. Glasgow Airport to Glasgow Queen Street Station

– Bus Take the Glasgow Airport Express (Service 500) to Glasgow Queen Street Station. Buses run frequently, and the journey takes about 15 minutes.

– Cost Approximately £8 for a single ticket.

2. Glasgow Queen Street Station to Edinburgh Waverley Station

– Train Take a ScotRail train from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverley. Trains run frequently, and the journey takes about 50 minutes.

– Cost Prices vary but can range from £14-£20 for a single ticket.

3. Edinburgh Waverley Station to Edinburgh Napier International College

– Bus Walk to the Princes Street (Stop PR) bus stop, which is about a 5-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station.

– Bus 1 Take Lothian Bus 10 towards Torphin. Get off at Colinton Road (Stop CN).

– Bus 2 Alternatively, take Lothian Bus 27 towards Hunter’s Tryst. Get off at Morningside, Church Hill Theatre.

– Walk From either bus stop, it’s a short walk to 10 Colinton Road.

1. Glasgow Airport to Edinburgh

– Bus Take the Citylink Air (Service 900) bus from Glasgow Airport to Edinburgh. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, and buses run frequently.

– Cost Around £12 for a single ticket.

2. Edinburgh Bus Station to Edinburgh Napier International College

– Bus Walk to the St Andrew Square (Stop YD) bus stop, which is about a 2-minute walk from Edinburgh Bus Station.

– Bus 1 Take Lothian Bus 27 towards Hunter’s Tryst. Get off at Morningside, Church Hill Theatre.

– Bus 2 Alternatively, take Lothian Bus 10 towards Torphin. Get off at Colinton Road (Stop CN).

– Walk From either bus stop, it’s a short walk to 10 Colinton Road.

Direct You can take a taxi or use a ride-hailing service like Uber directly from Glasgow Airport to Edinburgh Napier International College. This option is more expensive but provides door-to-door service.

From London Heathrow

1. Flight from Heathrow to Edinburgh

– Book a flight from Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Edinburgh Airport (EDI). Several airlines operate this route with frequent flights. Flight duration: 1 hour 25 minutes.

2. From Edinburgh Airport to Edinburgh Napier International College

– By Tram and Bus

1. Take the Edinburgh Trams service from Edinburgh Airport to Haymarket Station.

2. From Haymarket Station, take Lothian Bus number 10 (direction to Bonaly) and alight at Napier University (Morningside).

3. Walk to 10 Colinton Road (approximately a 5-minute walk).

– By Taxi

– You can also take a taxi directly from Edinburgh Airport to 10 Colinton Road, which will take about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

1. Train from London to Edinburgh

– From Heathrow Airport, take the Heathrow Express or the London Underground (Piccadilly Line) to London King’s Cross Station.

– From King’s Cross, take a direct train to Edinburgh Waverley Station. The journey takes about 4.5 hours.

2. From Edinburgh Waverley to Edinburgh Napier International College

– By Bus

1. From Edinburgh Waverley Station, walk to Princes Street (East) and take Lothian Bus number 10 (direction to Bonaly) or number 23 (direction to Greenbank).

2. Alight at Napier University (Morningside) and walk to 10 Colinton Road.

– By Taxi

– Alternatively, take a taxi from Edinburgh Waverley Station to 10 Colinton Road, which will take about 15 minutes.

Your checklist on arrival

Once you arrive at the Edinburgh Napier University International College, make sure you let your family know that you have arrived safely and settled into any accommodation.  You can request a member of the team to help you notify your family of your arrival to the college via an email with your permission or a Whatsapp message if you prefer.

Once you have checked into your accommodation, please inform the reception team at ENUIC. If you are experiencing any problems, please mention this so we can provide any support you may require. More information can be found in the Accommodation FAQs (napier.ac.uk)

Once you arrive on the Edinburgh Napier University campus, you should proceed to the International College at H18 Merchiston. If you are not able to locate this, please contact the College as soon as possible on the pre-arrival mobile. You can also receive directions from any of the Ipoints at ENU campuses. Online enrolment can be completed via Next Steps (napier.ac.uk). You must complete this in full. Complete as much as you can before you arrive in Edinburgh.

Student Visa holders once in the UK will need upload the following to complete the registration process:

  • Evidence of entry to the UK (e.g entry clearance stamp in your passport or boarding pass if you enter through the UK E-Gate Passport Control)
  • Your passport ID page
  • eVisa/Share code

Registration for the College will be done during the induction week. You will need to complete an online form during your induction session.

You will be issued with your student card when you complete your enrolment.

Students are required to have their student card with them at all times when on campus and the card is also used for access to rooms and facilities.

Your induction timetable will be sent to both your personal email and your university email address shortly before the start of your course.  Please be aware that induction sessions are compulsory and will be taken into account to your attendance rate.

During the first week of term induction, meet and greet events will be scheduled for current/new students, tutors, and members of staff. The Schedule will be confirmed at your enrolment meeting. It is required that you attend these events so that you get to know your fellow students, tutors and ENUIC support staff.

You will need your University of Edinburgh Napier email address and password to access Eduroam (University network).

Before you start, you will receive an email from our IT Services department to your personal email account with details of your new username for your IT account. You will need to enter your new username to set your password for your IT account.

Please read and follow the steps in the email carefully as you will need your IT account to use all the University services.

Once you are enrolled personal timetables are visible to you in a week to week format and will be available on your MyNapier app.

Register with the University GP:

The team at ENUIC will assist with registering with a local Doctor.  When registering, you will need original copies of your  Passport, Student ID and your eVisa/Share code

Once you arrive in the UK you may find it useful to open a UK bank account. To do this you will normally require:

  • Your eVisa/Share code
  • Your passport
  • A letter of introduction to the bank – you can find this on your MyNapier App under the Estudent Records section
  • Proof of address such as a lease agreement

If you intend to work part-time during your studies, we advise you to apply for a National Insurance – this is a unique personal reference number which will be required for tax and employment purposes. The application takes a maximum of 4 weeks for approval. The NI number comes through the post, and it is important that you provide your correct address details to ensure that you don’t lose it.

You can work in the UK for a maximum of 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during vacations.

You must ensure that you comply with the work restrictions that apply to you, as it is a criminal offence to breach any immigration conditions.

Everyone who possesses a TV, or devices such as a radio or tablet, must pay a TV licence fee.  TV licences must be renewed annually and can be purchased from the Post Office or online.  For more information go to

Student support is available through the Counselling & Mental Wellbeing team, you can find more information about the team here  This support could be personal, health, visa, or study problems. In each case student life is available to offer help and guidance for you.

The university’s Disability Inclusion team works with students with disabilities, long-term physical or mental health conditions, or specific learning difficulties to ensure an equal access to university life. Moodle is your virtual learning environment where you can access your course materials, submit your assignments and communicate with your teacher and fellow students. You can access Moodle via this link Log in to the site | Moodle.org  and sign in with your university username. The Moodle mobile app is also available. If you have any problems accessing Moodle when you start your course, please speak to your tutor or the ENUIC Student Support Office.

The name of your Personal Development Tutor will be available via evision or Moodle. They will contact you within the first few weeks of the course but you can also email them at any time.

All students at the Edinburgh Napier University International College are required to pay tuition fees either before the start of the course or during the enrolment process. If you are unable to pay your fees prior to the start of your course please contact the college for support.

Failure to pay your tuition fees will result in you becoming a debtor and you will be subject to College Sanctions.

Please note that the fees that you pay for the first part of your course at the University of Edinburgh Napier International College do not include the fees for the second stage of your course at the University. IT Support

During your studies you may come across IT problems, with connection or email, for example. As an embedded College within the larger Edinburgh Napier University, you will have access to the university’s IT support Services, The University’s IT Services is there to help students and staff with any IT problems and questions. They also provided access to university PCs found across the University’s campus. Within each suite you will find access to a wide range of software as well as printing facilities. Careers and Employability services at the University offer guidance and advice to students on career related matters. Academic Skills Advice

Most students will need some support with their studies during their time at university. The Academic Skills Team helps students with all areas of academic study and interpersonal skills. They offer 1-2-1 sessions, group advice, workshops and they have a number of online study skills resources. ENUIC students can access these resources free of charge, all of which are delivered throughout the year both online and an on campus. The University also offers an interactive range of digital resources on Moodle that you can access to support independent learning across all aspects of maths, study skills and writing. Accommodation Advice

The Edinburgh Napier University International College can provide you with support and advice related to finding suitable accommodation. It is recommended that students live in Halls of Residence, on campus, for at least the first year in Edinburgh. This accommodation is safe, secure and is a good way to make friends​. There are a variety of prices to suit different budgets​ and rent includes all bills. Living on campus also means that there is no need to pay for expensive public transport​.

  • be available to offer advice, support or guidance, or to direct you to appropriate sources of assistance in the University.

FAQs

All Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) are being issued with an expiry date of 31st December 2024, even if your visa or course continues after this date. This is because UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) is switching from physical BRP cards to eVisas, which are digital records of your immigration status. An eVisa will show details like your visa type, expiry date, and conditions for staying in the UK.

To access your eVisa, you’ll need to. This is free, and you should do this before your BRP card expires at the end of December 2024. Changing from a physical BRP to an eVisa will not affect your immigration status or the conditions of your stay in the UK.

For help creating a UKVI account and accessing your eVisa,

You can prove your immigration status by to create a share code. This code will give others temporary access to your immigration information. You can get a new share code whenever you need one.

Your eVisa will be linked to your passport in your UKVI account. Before travelling to the UK, make sure your current passport is correctly linked to your eVisa. If not, you may face delays at the border.

It’s important to keep your passport details up to date in your UKVI account and notify UKVI if anything changes. This will make it easier for border officials to confirm your immigration status. You must still carry your current passport when travelling. If you’ve applied for a new passport and UKVI has not yet updated your account, carry both your old and new passports to avoid any delays.

Remember: Keep carrying your BRP card when travelling internationally until it expires at the end of 2024.

If you have forgotten your password, please visit the service in the first instance. You should have enrolled for this as part of your Introduction to Computing and Library Services.

Once you have completed registration you will be given an option to upload a photo for your student card via Photo Manager.

Once you have uploaded the photo and you are fully registered, your card will be posted to the UK contact address you have confirmed in Photo Manager. Please note that student cards will only be sent to a UK contact address. If your address is not correct, you need to update your student record prior to uploading your photo.

You will have an opportunity to change this address but if you do not have a secure contact address yet that your card can be posted to, you may choose not to request your card at this time. Please be aware that if you request your card to be sent to an address, other than your UK contact address, and are unable to retrieve the card you may be charged £10 for a replacement. Once you have an address you can then come back, upload your photo, choose/update your address and your card will be posted to you.

When you have fully completed the registration process, have a confirmed contact address, and have uploaded a photo, your card will be sent to the card bureau for printing. The data is sent down daily every evening so will be picked up the next day and processed. Your card will be posted within 5-7 days of the bureau receiving your card data. Please note that the processing time may increase to 10-14 working days at the start of term due to a high volume of requests.

You are expected to be on campus for the start date of your course, you will need to be there at least 1 week before to complete registration and collect your ID card, settle into accommodation, and attend induction events.

To open a bank account, make an appointment with your bank of choice and bring with you your passport, student card, student status letter (available from any of the MyNapier under EStudent Records section) and proof of address. You will need to show the bank your accommodation acceptance letter if you’re living on campus, along with proof of your home address. It’s also wise to ask when making the appointment if there are any other documents you require to get an account opened.

Timetable for term 1 will be sent to you before the start of the term. It will be available for you to view on the Edinburgh Napier app approximately 5 days after you fully complete the registration process.

It’s important that you register with a local GP Practice (doctors) as soon as possible to access help and services should you have a health concern during your studies. It is essential that your health and wellbeing is looked after and to access this, you must register with a GP near to where your accommodation is. In order to register, you will require a letter confirming you are a full-time student which you can get from one our iPoints (there is one based at each of our campuses).
